Office 2007 SP1 Fails to install at end - Program Stopped Respondi

P

Peter

I'm trying to install Office SP1 on Vista but with no success.

I have:

1. Run Offiice 2007 Repair - it completed no errors etc - No success
2. Uninstalled Vista SP1 RC1 - No success.
3. Reinstalled Vista SP1 RC1 - No success

The install seems to get near the end then fails with a "program has stopped
responding".

The error in the system event log is:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with
error 0x80070643: -PRE-2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1).

Put your Office 2007 disk into your CD\DVD-ROM and then install the SP1 while that Office 2007 disk is in your CD\DVD ROM.

Post back with result

Cannot do that. It is an MS Office 2007 Enterprise install that was
installed over a corporate network to my work notebook. I don't have a CD.

I presume that your companies IT person will have these install CD's. Ask the person if you can use it to install the SP1. Apart from that I cannot advise you further on this issue

Hi Peter,

If the Office Network Installation Point is still available to you, that would act as the equivalent of the Office CD being in the
drive (i.e. it's the original source files)

It's not clear if having the pre-release Windows Vista SP1 would further complicate things.

I've tried connected to the corporate network (where the office share is) for
the install but same problem. I've also tried installing with Vista SP1 RC1
uninstalled. Same problem.

Microsoft Office 2007 SP1 – Service Pac will not install . . .

I have read about one thing to try to make SP1 for my Office 2007 install -
It was recommended that I “insert the Office 2007 CD into the driveâ€.
However, in my case, I do not have a CD because my copy of Office 2007 came
free at the Vista Launch Event.
I had to download my Office 2007 install files.
Now what must I do to make Office 2007 SP1 correctly install on my XP Pro
system?
Help!
