I just purchased Office 2007 Standard Version (it is actually the military
appreciation version of the standard). How many computers can i install this

Assuming your license is the same is the same:

2. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS. Before you use the software under a
license, you must assign that license to one device. That device is the
“licensed device.†A hardware partition or blade is considered to be a
separate device.
a. Licensed Device. You may install and use one copy of the software on the
licensed device.
b. Portable Device. You may install another copy on a portable device for
use by the single primary user of the licensed device.

Of course the only way to tell is to start the installation and read the
licensing terms.

JoAnn,
I read all the postings and replys regarding Office Standard 2007 on
Multiple Computers and am somewhat confused. Without calling Microsoft, here
is my question. I built a computer and purchased the full version of Office
Standard 2007 and installed it on my computer. I am now building another
computer for my wife. Can I install my Office Standard 2007 on the second
computer I am building? Both computers are home built and located in my house.

Only if it's a laptop. the Eula specifically states "one computer and one
portable device"

Quote:
a. Licensed Device. You may install and use one copy of the software on the
licensed device.
b. Portable Device. You may install another copy on a portable device for
use by the single primary user of the licensed device.

Thank you for your response. This may be a dumb question, but how does it
know if it is a portable device or not? Reference INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS
b. Portable Device?

JoAnn,
Thank you for your candid answer. My days of "knock-offs" is long over and I
do play by the rules.
Thank you again,

I too have left those days behind me. Morals mean a lot to mean and with
that comes respecting license agreements, copyrights, and laws. It's nice to
know I'm not alone. ;-)

Thank you for your response. Knock-offs were of control when I was stationed
in Asia with the military. No, you are not alone. I too respect license
agreements.
Thank you again

JoAnn, is it true that Office Standard 2007 installs up to 3 PCs? I have
installed on one notebook and would like to install a new PC that bought
recently. Install it under the same user name or different user name?

C

JoAnn, that means Office Standard can install one notebook and one desktop PC
with the same licence under the sams user name.

JoAnn Paules said:
No. Office Standard's license would be what I posted before. Once on the
license device and once on a portable device for your use only.

No - it means the same user. Not that the same person owns the software or
hardware. I cannot load a copy of my Office software on my husband's laptop.
He is the primary (and all but sole) user of that system, not me.
