office 2007 suite setup crashes

Trying to install Office 2007 Suite on my Win XP SP2 machine. The
installation crashes with no particular error message beyond that there was
and error and do I want to send a report to Microsoft. The office install
splash screen briefly flashes before the crash. The setup log file is below.

I also tried Project 2007 and Visio 2007, same error. Any help will be
appreciated.

0x80040154 stands for Class not registered. Some parts of the Windows
Installer service might be broke.

Try updating MSI from

Appreciate your response, unfortunately that didn't work - I've updated to
Installer 3.1, but I still have the same problem. I'm close to reinstalling
XP just to make this work (maybe).
