Office 2007 to Office 2000

if I am using Office 2007 with windows vista and send a file to a client that
is using Office 2000 with windows 95 (therefore saving as in 2000), will
there be any difference in what I created to what my client will see? In
other words by saving as in the lower version, would the old version not be
able to show everything that I placed in the file, or would it alter the file
in any way, shape, or form.

Which program are you talking about?

In Word 2007, if you work on a file in compatibility mode, there should be
no loss of features, etc., because Word 2007 won't let you use things that
won't work in the earlier version. If you're working on a docx file, you can
choose Office - Prepare - Run Compatibility Checker to see if anything will
be lost.

Hi Eish,

To add to Herb's reply. For folks on Windows NT, 95, 98 and ME they won't be able to use Microsoft's converter for Office 2007
files. They'd need to know to use one of the 3rd party converters unless, when saving you save in the legacy (.doc, .xls, .ppt)
file formatss.

Once you save a document in the legacy format you are automatically in (older version) compatibility mode while working on the
document.
Items such as 'smart art' should be in the file, but as a graphic/picture of the content you see (not editable). There are
limitations, such as not being able to use an Excel spreadsheet larger (in rows/columns) than the older versions can use.
