If Add/Remove programs does not uninstall the Office 2007 beta, installed of
course on a non-production machine, then back up your files, format and
reinstall Windows to get rid of all the beta bits.

Next time, install betas on machines you don't mind trashing.

Non productive machines seem to be the buzz or key words around here at
least to me and betas.

Maybe MVPs can get MS to put up a sign on their web site under system
requirements for betas, "USE ON NON PRODUCTIVE MACHINES ONLY"

Would sure save a lot of headaches for users and MS.

Thanks
Bill

Geez, Bill. If you go to
http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/beta/getthebeta.mspx , it
clearly states:

About Beta Software
• Registration is required for participation.
• 2007 Microsoft Office system Beta 2 is for evaluation and
planning purposes only.
• Beta software does not necessarily display the same high level
of stability of shipped Microsoft products.
• Beta testers may experience problems with 2007 Microsoft Office
system Beta 2 products that could potentially result in loss,
corruption, or destruction of existing data.
• This beta testing release is not appropriate for production use.
• It is strongly recommended that you back up your existing data
before you install and run this software.
• Beta code is offered "as is," and does not include technical
support.
• Many organizations have policies prohibiting unauthorized
software installation on company-owned computers. Make sure you
check with your IT department before downloading and installing
2007 Microsoft Office system Beta 2 on your computer at work.

This notice takes up about a quarter of the page... how much
bigger do you need it to be?

It won't matter, G&O, people will do what they want and then blame everyone
except the one person who actually had control over who installed what
programs on what machine.

The whole idea of a beta screams - "Don't use unless you like living on the
bleeding edge, can afford to trash a machine, have a ghost image ready to
lay over the trashed partition, or otherwise are prepared for trouble."

Unfortunately, or fortunately, Microsoft products always get a big splash so
the publicly available Beta of Office 2007 (downloaded by now by close to a
million people) makes people forget common sense just to be one of the first
on their block.

Amen before I started I used Norton Ghost. Ive been able to configure and
reconfigure Office Beta 2 and still get back to my original image. It really
helps to read before you jump.

Yes G I did read all that, but I think my wording would be more
effective...:) Use another machine!. But the wider the install base the ,
well you know what I mean

And to miss Milly it isn't a question of blaming, they are users out there
not at all familiar with beta and its ramifications so a forceful specific
warning is more appropriate than words like, "potentially", "same level",
"may experience", "not necessarily"...and on and on...so vague and
potentially harmful (see I can use the word too) to the uninitiated.

Anyway just my two cents and I am sure it would reduce the zillion questions
and problems posted here

One more thing I would be happy to post such a warning based on the various
responses of some MVPs to new users coming to this forum to ensure they
dont install the beta...I think that it would be service to the community...

I had thought about it but the percentage of users who actually use these
forums is very small, the message would probably get flamed, and it would
drop off after a short time, depending on the news server you are using and
their retention policies.

Anyway, you can't please all the people all the time.
