I have office 2007, and want to load some recovered files from previous
version of Word, recovered when I had a problem with a previous hard drive.
At present they are read only. Is there any way they can be converted, or
will I need to install an old WORD? I don't know wht's going on.

In Windows Explorer right-click on the files, choose "Properties" and remove
the "Read-only" attribute....

Open Windows Explorer and in the folder containing these files right
click on each file and "UNcheck" the read-only box and apply.
