Hi Sydoz,

It's not clear why having a pre-installed on new PC (OEM) edition would mean that you would not have the original CD or a CD image
stored on the hard drive of the new PC that can be written to a CD from that image.

Have you checked with the PC supplier on this?

Where are you seeing the 'selection is locked message' (steps?)

Thanks bob, i am not sure either but apparently that is what MIcrosoft is
doing now, NO CD? for the OEM version ? I do not understand why.
This message comes up on the bottom right of the task bar in either word or
excel etc

Your CD issue needs to be handled by your computer manufacturer. Tell them
you want a CD.

Hi Sydoz,

Can you tell us who the PC supplier is that has taken the position inferring that Microsoft doesn't want owners to have CDs for OEM
editions for Office 2007?

Hey bob:) he is just a small guy in sydney australia Scott Browne Computers
but the packaging also states a number of times, : on the front it says
"recovery discs are available but not inlcuded in this package"and the
inside where the disc normally is it says " no disc provided in this package"
, " place your separately acquired backup disc here" and TThen To acquire
backup disc follow instructions at http://www.mivrosoft.com/office /backup/"
Where you have to pay AGAIN for the disc, it was only $12 Aus so i did
order one.
Scott also came this mornig and reinstalled Office , it now works , so far
anyway,
Thanks :))

It is very likely that you had a Trial Version of the Office 2007
program installed. Trial versions will go into "Limited
Functionality" mode after a set time or a set number of uses. The
only way around this would be to purchase the full program. Your
system may have something like MS Works installed, and then the Office
2007 Trial to go along with it.
If you don't want to purchase the full version of the program, then
you can remove it, and use the Works program (Corel, whatever came
installed on your system) besides the Trial of Office 2007.
You can also use programs like Open Office as an alternative to MS
Office.

Hi Sydoz,

Glad to hear that the reinstallation helped (was it just Office that was reinstalled or ????)

As for the CD, it was your PC supplier, rather than Microsoft, that chose to not provide the disc with the OEM edition of Office
2007. The PC supplier can choose to offer a media based or medialess kit. MS asks that PC suppliers do provide the media, but...
:)
