Sorry if this is OT.

I'd like to know if MS Office 2010 32 bit version will run satisfactorily on
Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit version.

Thank you

Thank you. Sort of answer I like. I wonder if I might ask a supplementary?

My granddaughter is getting her first laptop at Christmas. It comes with MS
Office 2010 Home and Student Starter which is a very limited edition of Word and
Excel. I was thinking of getting her the full MS Office 2010 suite on a student
licence. Would I have to uninstall the Starter version before installing the
full version?

Trouble is I do not know yet whether the version of Office on the laptop is 32
or 64 bit. When the laptop arrives is there an easy way to find out if the
Office installed is 32 or 64?

I know MS recommends installing 32 bit as default unless users expect to be
working on really huge worksheets or databases.
Thank you.

1st. The operating system, Windows may be either 32 or 64 bit and the
choice of the retail Office Suite you purchase does not depend on the
operating system's "bitness."

If the computer comes with Office Starter (different than Home and Student)
then it should be uninstalled prior to installing any retail purchased
Office suite.

Many computers are shipped with Office Home and Student in either the 2007
or 2010 version as a time limited trial version. Normally it is installed
as 32 bit. If the installed trial software matches your purchased retail
version then you can simply use the product key for your purchase to
activate the installed product. If it doesn't match, then you should
uninstall the trial and reboot the computer before installing your retail
version.

If you purchase a retail DVD set of Office Home and Student, or if you
happen to purchase an academic copy of Office Professional, you should
receive two DVDs. One will have 32 bit and the other 64 bit software
install packages.

Any more questions please ask.

Just to complete this query I thought I should let you know that I successfully
uninstalled the Office Starter and installed Office 2010 Pro. The whole
procedure went without a hitch and at no time was there any mention 32-bit or
64-bit systems. Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook are all working fine.
Thank you so much for the advice.

Case closed!!! :O))
