Office 2013. Is it worth anything?

Good Guy

I was thinking about pulling the trigger until I read the reviews from
Amazon.

Are there any happy users. Is this version ready for prime time?

Office 2013 is almost identical to Office 2010 except that it is
Subscription based. This means, you have to keep paying every year if
you want to continue using the product otherwise it stops working. When
it stops working, you can open your existing document and read/view them
but you can't edit them and also, you can't create any new document with
the lapsed product.

The subscription is quite reasonable so if you are in the habit of
upgrading the product at each new release then it is worth it because it
works out cheaper (unless the subscription goes up next year).

I am thinking of getting Office 2013 Home Premium that comes with Access
and Publisher along with Word, Excel and Outlook.

You also get extra free space on SkyDrive/OneDrive to store and share
your documents.

Did you read any of the reviews on Amazon? I thought Office 365 was
what you're describing and 2013 would be more like their predecessors. I
don't see any reason to upgrade each year as how much can they add that
would make it worth the price? Even if you had a company it would take
upgrading multiple systems. At my work place they still have Win XP Pro
machines and their a hi-tech cutting edge firm. Most are Win7 and have
Solidworks 2014 though but I can;t see them needing anything better than
Office 2010.
