Office 2K SBE/XP Compatibility

I recently loaded WinXP over Win98 as an upgrade. Now having problems with
Office 2K SBE. WORD won't open, and my computer locks up when I click on the
icon. Exxel opens and operates in a new workbook, but I can't open a saved
file.

Any thoughts?

There is no error message in trying to open a saved Excel file. The cursor
changes to the hourglass but the file doesn't open. Once you get to this
point, Excel won't close. I have to close it with Task Manager.

Frequently the "upgrade" from a DOS based Windows to a NT based Windows
doesn't work so well due to the difference in the drivers. It's the
"easy way to do it" but sometimes the time you save is eaten up after
the change by little problems like this. I would suggest at a minimum
removing and reinstalling the printer, renaming Normal.dot to Normal.old
and then Detect and Repair of the Office apps.
