Office 4.2 and Windows XP Professional

I have a client who is running Office 4.2 on their workstation. They are
gupgrading to a new machine w/ MS WinXP Pro. Can they install Office 4.2 on
the new machine? Thanks in advance.

Hi M.,

Office Standard 1993 (v4.2) will run on Windows XP but you
may need to set the compatability mode for it in the
shortcut properties tab to an earlier Windows version.
The product will be in an unsupported (use as is) state.

Some of the side apps, such as the Office 4 version of
MS Office Photo Editor will probably no longer function correctly.

In general, as much as I liked Word 6, upgrading to a
more recent version, even Word 2002 as part of the
MS Works Suite (http://works.msn.com) usually available
relatively inexpensively, may be a better and less frustrating
option.
