Office 97 and Win XP

Peter

I cannot install my Office 97 onto my new HP a340n. I get
message "Setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application".

I had it running on my older HP running Win XP. But I had
istalled Office 97 when that PC was running Win 98 2nd
edition and then I upgraded it to Win XP. Office 97
continued to run okay. Will appreciate some help. Thanks.

That error message usually means that the setup.exe file is corrupted. If
its accessible rename it and reinstall Office
Office 97 runs quite OK on my Windows XP Pro machine

Further to my recent post it appears that the problem is caused by your CD
drive driver requiring to be updated
