office 97 problem

when i try to open a new word document i get an error
message..."WINWORD this programe has performed an illegal
operation if the problem persists contact the programe
vendor"I open details this reads...."winword exicuted an
invalid instruction at module msp232.dll at0167:505bid28"
All other programs in the office seems ok
I`m running on windows 98
Would appreciate any help
