My computer crashed or something. My word, excel etc.. is not retrievable
now. I have the original software disk. I install it and when I click on
say the word program it states application not installed -run from the set up
location. I don't now what that is. Can I do something to get my programs
up and running again. Any help would be really appreciated.

Certainly, you can do something! How about installing Office97 all over again including all service packs issued by Microsoft for Office 97.

To install Office 97 you need to insert your original CD in your CD drive and follow the instaructions on the screen. You will need your CD Serial number or as Michael Stevens (pirate of M$ products) keeps referring this as Product ID number. When you insert your CD, it should automatically start the setup program. If it does not, then you will need to launch your Windows Explorer and double-click on Setup.Exe file on your CD drive. Then you just follow the Windows Wizard to help you re-install your product all over again.

Hope this proves useful.
