Office 97 upgrade install

I have laptop with XP operating, Works Suite 2000 already
installed which includes Word 2000. Trying to install
Office 97 upgrade which requires a licensed product like
Word. It does not recognize Word 2000 and keeps telling
me I need a underlying licensed product. Any suggestions.
Trying not to buy another upgrade.

The upgrade version of Office 97 is looking for an *older* version of Office
or one of its component products. Your newer Works 2000 or Word 2000
versions do not qualify. If you were able previously to install this
Office 97 upgrade on any other computer, you'll need to find the disks for
that older qualifying product and use them during your install.
