Office 97 upgrade to Office XP

I have the original Office 97 CD. I now have an XP Home machine and would like to run Office XP on it.

Can I install Office 97 on this machine without compatibility issues?

Then, is it feasible to upgrade from such an old version of MS Office to Office XP

Yes, Office 97 will run on Windows XP Home.

Yes you can use Office 97 CD to install the upgrade version of Office XP {if
you can find one}. A better choice for Windows XP would be to upgrade to
Office 2003 using your Office 97 CD. You can choose any retail Office 2003
upgrade edition. You can find information on the various Office 2003
