Please help! I just bought a Dell 8600 laptop and I'm
trying to load Office 97 Pro on it so that I can then
upgrade to Office XP. The problem is that it keeps
telling me that I have an Office 97 Pro "Upgrade" CD.
This is not so. I have loaded Office 97 Pro on my
desktop from this CD and then upgraded to Office XP and
it worked just fine. Now I want to switch everything
over to my new laptop and it's saying that it's an
upgrade CD! I also tried just loading the Office XP
upgrade and then it asks for a valid previous version so
then I insert my Office 97 Pro CD and it starts but then
it stops while installing the mso.dll file. This is
absolutely positively an Office 97 install CD NOT an
upgrade. Why is it doing this and what can I do?
