Office 97 - XP Home

Hi!

i saved office97 word documents on a CD from a PC running WINDOWS 98.
afterwards I installed WINDOWSX XP Home including formatting with NTFS.

then I installed Office97 and when I open a word document I get the
following message:
"document xxx.doc is already in use by user xxx, do you want to create a
copy ?"

I just have 1 user on the XP Home machine, his name is listed within the
message.

any hint on how to get rid of this would be greatly appreciated,

First step would be to copy all those docs from the CD back onto the
hard disk into the folder you want to store them. Then open them from
there. Word won't be able to properly open files directly from the CD.
That might be the root-cause of your problem.

thanx for the replies!

I forgot to mention, that I copied the files back to the hard-disc and
accessd them form there.
I also checked the read-only attribute.
