Office 98 Attachments with Outlook 2001

We use Outlook 2001 with Exchange server 2003. For some reason when
sending emails with Office 98 from a Mac to a PC outside the office,
the attachment won't open. When I send a file from a mac to my yahoo
account, the attachment mime type is application/applefile. I'm
checked the internet settings on the Mac and the file mappings appear
to be fine. Does it have something to do with Exchnage server or is
there a problem with Outlook 2001 or the Mac itself? Any ideas would
be greatly appreciated.
