If this is truly the case, then why can't they take two minutes and post an
official response on this website. You know, something like,

"We are aware that many of you are unable to activate your beta product. We
are activately at work on a solution to the problem. Please accept our
sympathies as we continue to fix these issues."

As it is, all we have is a bunch of people complaining about the issue, but
no real solutions or answers from MS. This is extremely disappointing.

I totally agree with you especialy as some have managed to activate and the
majority unable too, With everyone in the dark over the issue it takes five
minutes to make a post.

I sent an email and got back (in part) the following:

"I understand you are unable to activate your copy of Office 2007 Beta. I
realize the importance of your issue. I would like to inform you that Office
2007 program is still in the beta phase of development, and mainstream
technical support is currently not available. When Microsoft releases a full
version of Office 2007, assisted technical support will be available.

As the issue you have raised is technical in nature, I recommend you to post
the respective concern at the below mentioned newsgroups support web link at:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/community/overview.mspx. Although
formal support is not offered for this beta, Microsoft has provided
newsgroups to help get your questions answered."

So that's what MS has to say about my inability to activate....

um. that does not help at all. This thread was discussing activation, not
using office in a TS environment.

Did you actually read the KB and follow the steps?
The KB happens to give you an Office 2007 Beta Volume License Key that
doesn't require activation. Method 1 gives you the key in case you are
installing it, method 2 tells you how to switch your installed copy of
Office 2007 Beta to the key.
If you ignore the title of the KB and the problem it addresses, it is
very much about activation.

use this link:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/925098/

although it says it's for terminal something, it works. i just did it.

i found this on the post about 4 up from this one "activate office 2007 in
office setup"

i'm not one to go about editing my registry, but this was super easy.
use method 2, then open any office program, and it will prompt you for the
new key. you can cut and paste the key from method 1 and BINGO, no more
activation prompts!

K

kelkelkelw

Worked for me too! Fast, easy, and aside from a momentary palpitation when I
got a "thunk" beep after copying in the key and hitting enter, everything is
opening cooperatively and no more activation warnings. Tra la! Thanks,
Patrick!

Thanks Patrick for the fast response that worked a treat, if only there was a
general notice for all users might have saved you the trouble of replying to
all the posts. 10 out of 10.
