Office apps open slowly thru toolbar - Mcafee to blame?

Runnit Excel, Word etc. through the toolbar can take up to 15 seconds
(3G CPU) on a Win2K machine, while running the app directly from a
shortcut on the desktop takes only 1-2 seconds. I have McAfee installed.

Is the anti-virus software causing the delay when launching the apps
from the office toolbar?
