Office Assistant: Filename?

What is the filename of the 'Office Assistant' and where is it kept; and why
does there seem to be no option for putting this - or even just a 'help'
button on the Office shortcut bar?

Cheers,

Sorry Bob: 2002 SP3

And, I have to say I always found the paperclip etc very irritating and
rarely used it, but, recently, when I wanted to know more about Office as a
whole, rather than the individual programmes, I was surprised to find no
help available on, or even customisable for, the shortcut bar. There does
not seem to be an 'Office', if you will, that actually contains the Office
components, and displays them for selection and manipulation in the manner
of the individual component's starting screens; and to where one would turn
for information about the most effective ways of using Office as an
integrated tool.

F1 does not, therefore, work, because there is no 'home screen' for Office,
to use it from.

I can see no file in the Office folders that looks like it might be help or
the 'Assistant', but this is no guideline, as I also note that, though
'Office Tools' appears in the 'Start' dialogue 'Programmes', no such
programme or folder is listed in the Office folders proper. All a tad
puzzling to me!

This is no great problem: just a curiosity and minor inconvenience (I had
dragged and dropped the Office Tools, to where I could see it - on the
shortcut bar - only to find it had been removed from the Start dialogue
progs when I did this, so it failed to work. As it would not drag back off,
and I did not know where it was supposed to be, I had to System Restore to
get it back!)

Thanks for your interest,

S

I think you may want to open an Office application, and then click Help,
Detect and Repair. If this doesn't correct the issue, then run Office
Setup and add the features desired. Altho what you call the "shortcut
bar" does not sound like the Office shortcut bar, but is infact the
Start menu, Office Suite programs folder. IF you dragged that to the
Quick Launch bar, you should be able to drag that back toward the
desktop and then "hover" over the Start button, pause while it opens and
then "navigate" back to Programs and drop it with the "hover and pause"
method.
