Office assistant not responding

Whenever I shut down my computer with windows XP (home edition) and
outlook 2003 running, I get a message:
' office assistant is not responding. To activate office assistant go
to help and click on 'activate office assistant' or something like
that.

I've tried doing this many times yet each time I shut down I still get
the same message. What can I do so stop this message from appearing?
