I have similar problem. It seems to be random. from a couple times a week to
once in two weeks I have to wait for Office to re-load and configure itself.
Office 2007 is a definate downgrade from 2003 for me.
I also have this problem with Office basic 2007. It does it everytime I open
a word or excel document and is driving me nuts. No one wants to take
responsibility for this without charging a massive fee on top of what I have
already paid for a pre-installed programme in a brand new pc.

New PC, Office Basic and preinstallation all point to the Vendor as your
support path. You will need to contact their tech support. Microsoft
only offers free 90 day support for the Retail package, so if you bought
the inexpensive version from the vendor Microsoft would have to charge
you for the post vendor support.
