Office Beat 2 working with other office products

Don Cochron

I am now using Outlook Express and would like to continue to do Email with
that software in the spirit of avoiding problems in essential software. I am
also using Publisher 2003 and would like to keep that software operational
for the same reaason. I would like to try the other parts of Beta 2 since if
I run into trouble I can fall back on my older verson without undue
difficulty.

Okay. Do you have a question?

Yes ----- Will Office 2007 Beta 2 work with my current Outlook Express and
Publisher 2003? -----I read a lot of posts on this board that suggest falling
back is trouble prome and very difficult.

Hi Don,

Outlook express (a Windows/Internet Explorer product) shouldn't be affected by using Office 2007 (except for Office insisting on
making the Office Outlook product the default mail client <g>) and Publisher 2007 can read and write Publisher 2003 files. [In the
case of Publisher the 2007 file format isn't a new one as it is in Word 2007, Excel 2007, Access 2007 and Powerpoint 2007.

Office 2007 is intended to give folks a first look at the new product, rather than be a replacement for your existing day to day
product, so there's no guarantee on where you'll be left if you go back at the end of the beta (too many variables on any one
machine to predict), so MS recommends using the older file formats when you save if its an important file.
