Hi everyone. As the title says the installer wizard shows:
"Wrong OS version. This software needs Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later"
 http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/3857/errorinstalaroffice2011.jpg

My computer has hardware and OS version as requested. Actually it is a 10.5.7 one, as "About this mac" confirms; moreover, when I run SW_Vers in Terminal it also says I have 10.5.7

By the other hand, I have never installed in it any Office suite (Microsoft, iWork, etc.).
I usually run the maintenance options in Onyx and MacTuneUp.

Finally, I have tried to install it through Terminal:
sudo installer -package /Volumes/Microsoft\ Office\ 2008/Office\ Installer.mpkg -target /
But it also gives me the same error message.

Could I install it by editing the installer, so it skips the OSX version checking?

Interesting. I don't know all the latest news on this product, but I
wasn't aware that the beta had been released to the public yet.
Interesting that it has.

Sounds like a bug. When beta software is released, there is normally a
protocol for reporting bugs back to the developers. Bugs are expected in
beta software. They hope for the best, but that's not what happens most
of the time. Read that in the material you received with the beta about
how to get help and report bugs, and do that.

Unlikely to get much help here as hardly anyone has a copy of the beta
and I suspect if they do they are not allowed to say they do.

Hi,

I can only but repeat what Rob has said. If you are a legal participant
in the Office 2011 beta, then you have signed an NDA that explicitly
forbids you from discussing the beta in public. You should also have
been told how to report bugs to Microsoft.

If you have somehow managed to get access to the Office 2011 beta
illegally, do not expect to get any support whatsoever. If you are a
legal user, use the official channels you have been given.

I suggest iWork '09. It does everything Office does.

Heck, if you really want to punish this guy make him use OpenOffice or
Lotus Symphony! LOL
