Office Button Closes Programs

Is there a way that I can stop the office button from closing and office
program? If you double click the office logo in the top left of the screen
this happens.

If you are talking about the Program's logo button when you say "office
button," no, as this is a feature of the Operating System. A single click
of the icon gives the same menu as right clicking on the program name in the
taskbar. A double click on the logo is the same as clicking on the X on the
right hand side of the open window. It has been this way IIRC since at
least Windows 3.1.
