Office Clipboard task pane not accessible anymore

When running Word 2007 in the Home/Student edition in the past, I have been
able to select the Clipboard dialog box launcher button from the Home tab in
order to display the contents of the Office Clipboard. Also, I have been
able to use the Office Clipboard to cut/copy/paste multiple items with the
clipboard, as opposed to just using the Windows clipboard.

Now, I am unable to view the Office Clipboard task pane anymore, so I can
not see the contents of the clipboard. Furthermore, I am unable to Paste
correctly the multiple contents of the clipboard. It just acts like the
default Windows clipboard that only handles one clipboard item at a time.
But what is odd is that I am able to access the icon on the task bar that
tells me that I have "x of 24" items in the clipboard. And I can see "x"
increment everytime I cut or copy. But still I am only able to paste the
last item in the clipboard, thus behaving like the Windows clipboard. I
have tried various combinations from the Options menu, such as selecting
"Show Office Clipboard Automatically", deselecting "Collect Without Showing
Office Clipboard", and the option to select Cntrl-C twice to bring up the
clipboard. Still the clipboard will not display.

Obviously, I have either borked something up in Word or there is a behavior
anomaly. How can I fix this to (1) correctly display the multiple contents
of the Office Clipboard, and even better, (2) properly cut and paste from the
Office Clipboard (NOT the Windows Clipboard, i.e. just one item at a time).

Thank you.
