Office Communicator 2005 Hot Fix MSP not applied to MSI

I deployed LCS Communicator by simply placing the MSI installer on a share
and deploying through GPO.

The problem is, I'm trying to apply the June 2007 hotfix which was
downloaded as an MSP. I am crazy for thinking that would be easy. I have
tried the msiexec /a ADMINSHARE/file.msi /p UPDATE.MSP route and the msiexec
/a ADMINSHARE/file.msi /update UPDATE.MSP.
Both of these options seem to only extract a folder inside of the share that
has all of the setup files in the way of executables, etc.
I tried to redploy the package and it did it but the version is still
1.0.559 (new version would show 1.0.559.224)
Anyone? Bueller?

Is there anyone that can help with this? There is obviously a big problem
with the design of the MSP patch for this.
