Office customizations not applied to all user profiles

Goodday,

I am planning to deploy Office 2003 using a compressed CD image and
LIS. I have an MST which applies settings from an OPS file. I call
the MST from the settings.ini, which also includes chained patches.

The problem is this. When I log onto a machine and install Office
using this method, all customized application settings from the OPS
file and MST are set correctly under my user profile. However, when
someone else logs on, not all customizations are set according to the
OPS.

My assumption was that all OPS and MST settings would be applied to
all existing user profiles and all new profiles. I am unable to find
documentation to confirm/deny this assumption, or any suggestions on
how to remedy what I am experiencing. Any ideas?

Lisa

I have seen similar on our systems. Even though we customized it to
advertise to all users, it only advertises to the admin who installs it the
first time. Every user after that has to run the same setup to get it to
work. Luckily, the second and subsequent setups are the mini install you
would normally see when a new user starts using a machine with Office
installed. It only takes a couple of minutes to complete.

I have worked around it by logging on as a user, installed and configured
office as I wanted it, logged off and then back on as a admin and then used
the user profile utility in CONTROL PANEL > SYSTEM > ADVANCED to copy the
user profile to the Default users profile directory. That gets the office
settings propagated down to every new user after that.

Amazingly enough, if I install it with no customizations except a command
line switch to advertise to all users, it works fine. It only breaks if I do
custom transforms or customize the setup INI file.

I really someone hear may know a way to stop it.
