Office Documents open really slowly.

From Windows explorer, MS Office documents take two to three minutes to load.
However, if I open the application and then open the document from within
the application, everything is normal and fast. Any ideas?

Switch off your virus scanner (note: you should NEVER do that) and it should
not take any time at all. If the scanner is resident, you have to uninstall
it to actually have that effect (Switching if offline won't change a thing in
that case).
My recommendation: Read an email in the three minutes and wait.

I have experienced just this issue with a group of computers running Office
XP. Found that documents would take about 30 seconds on average to open from
Windows Explorer, but if opened natively from within the application they
opened almost instantly.

Problem seems to have been resolved by upgrading to Office XP service pack 3.

Subbubb, your explenation of waiting reading an email for 3 minutes doesn't
really help anyone.
