I have got this messge a few times now and cannot install my office
enterprise 2007. I did on my other computer and since installing a dvd drive
into this machine it installs only so far as the above error message. I have
tried to locate the file but with no luck. Whats going on, it never asked me
this on the other machine?
cheers

This should be happening due to a read error.

Please try this..

Make a local folder on your machine and copy the entire contents of the CD
into that folder. Then run setup.exe from that local folder.

Hi, tried that and this error message came up half way through: cannot copy
enterrww: data error (cyclic redundancy check). I think I will have to leave
it then by the sounds of it. If by some magical xmas event it does work, will
it alter any of my email settings etc? I think i saw in a previous thread
that I should not load outlook if I already have Windows XP? cOULD BE WRONG.

"cyclic redundancy check" is absolutely a read error. Either there is
something wrong with the disc or something wrong with your DVD reader.

If you are confident that the Disc is not the problem, of course you could
run to an electronic store and purchase a DVD external drive and plug it into
your home machine.

Oh... and...

Upgrading should not effect your email settings. Are you upgrading though?
From the sounds of your last post perhaps you are currently using a different
email program? If you are not upgrading from an earlier version of outlook to
Outlook 2007, then there is a possibility that Outlook will not have the same
settings set as with your current email program.

There is no reason to not install Outlook on Windows XP.

Hello, cannot see any issue with the disc as I used it once only to load on
previous computer and no issues, however I will give it a quick clean. The
dvd reader is the same one I just swapped it over to my computer. I am not
upgrading the email as far as I am aware just installing the enterprise
edition. Beginning to regret this now!! :)

Quick background question for you - is this a Home Use Office Enterprise edition you are using?

Hi, its a home use program and I have just noticed the following on the back:
"you may use one copy of this software on one device within your home" I
think that means I am stuffed then?

Yes, and that is why I was asking. It is a single license only. You can always appy to your employer for a second copy although I don't know how that would work. Can't hurt to ask.
