all my office files are still present, but my system has started asking for
the disc to re-install it. As the computer starts up it is trying to install
office again--why???

Suz-Anne,
What version of Office? Did you recently apply Windows SP2? Did you recently
make changes to your system software?

office 2000 for Teachers/students. Early April clean install of SP2, no
problems. no other changes. Just remember I did a system restore backup
before and after that should I revert to one of them?

Suz-Anne,
Thanks for posting back and will try to help,
Do you have your installation cd(s)? You may try your most recent restore
point before proceeding further. Backup any files relating to your Office
installation before reverting to a previous Windows restoration point.
What service pack level is you Office version?

Hello Suz-Anne,

It is possible you've reverted some of the components from Microsoft Office.
Why dont you try inserting the CD and install what ever componet it is
installing. Afterall this installation only happen once. :)

restoration didn't work, even went back to before SP2! Finally let the
install run until I got an error message and it said "sku112.cab" was
missing. I discovered here and by googling this is a problem with all office
2003 versions. (I messed up--I have student/teacher 2003 office not 2000
anything). Apparently after about 1 year after installation this happens?!?
Went back to my husband's computer and no office and same error message. No
we are not linked at all. SOOOO--just did a clean reinstall, program is
there.

Is Microsft aware of this problem? Its all over the user groups, blogs,
etc on the internet. Many are gonig to a program called openoffice.org
instead because they say Microsoft doesn't care.

Thanks Chris! I have the article bookmarked. I tried repairing the
software, ended up reinstalling on this computer. Will see if the article
helps on my husband's. Again thank you.
