Office for Mac X and new iMacPro

Got a new iMacPro. Using firewire, copied everything, including Office
Mac X, to iMacPro from old iMac (not a laptop).

When I tried to use Word or Excel from either the dock icons or files,
Office Test Drive Word or Excel showed up. So I put Test Drive in the
trash, deleted Test Drive icons from dock and replaced them with icons
linked to Office Mac X.

All is fine except for one glitch: can't open files; have to open
application and then open file from the ap.

I called Apple help. Was told to remove all Office applications, X and
2004 Test Drive, from my computer and then re-install Office Mac X. I
did that.

I still get the glitch--can't open a document by double-clicking on the
file. Have to open the application first and load the file from the
application.

Any suggestions how to fix this glitch? It's rather bothersome.

Hi JAK:

Yeah: The magic word is "Run the Office Removal Tool".

See here:
http://word.mvps.org/mac/RemoveReinstall.html

Putting Test Drive in the trash was the big mistake: after that, the removal
tool can't find the components to remove them. You may nee to re-install
the Test Drive in order to get the tool to remove it completely.

If you follow the procedure on the web page absolutely exactly, you'll be
OK.

Cheers
