Office Genuine Advantage fails to recognize an Activation

I have Office XP that has been activated and working without difficulty. The
problem arose when I ran the "New" Genuine Advantage program prior to
obtaining Office updates. The OAG failed, and results in my computer
generating an error: Error 0x80180101. On finding this error on the Office
'Genuine Advantage' forum, I posted to the thread.

I am told I had to "just activate your Office XP". It shows as already
being activated. I did find that Publisher had not yet been activated, so
activated that - it activated without difficulty. I Re-ran OGA: Same
problem. I have all the original discs and have no doubt the products are
genuine - additionally they have never had this problem with previous
additions of OGA. The products appear and function normally, and do not
place me in "functionality mode".

In short, the Office-XP, and MS-Publisher both are working normally and
clicking on activation wizard says they are activated. Office Genuine
"advantage?" however begs to differ and is unable to see that they have been
activated. Why am I posting this here? Because the "Genuine" Forum
moderator has told me that the failure of OAG to detect the products
activation is an "activation" issue and beyond the scope of the forum. He
has, in fact, resorted to deleting my response to a post there, restating
this:
"Please refer to your original post where I provided you various websites
and another forum to post in. Activation falls out of the scope of the OGA
Forum.

Re: OGA saying not activated Good Luck on this, I have had same problem, and
do not seem to get them to understand that as far as the program shows to me,
it IS activated. Check the thread "Failure to Validate Office XP Error
0x80180101".
I have been told that since I have " and activation problem" it is not in
the scope of this forum, even though it is only Office Genuine Advantage that
fails to see it as activated.
Hope you get further than I.

I have already attempted to delete the data.dat file, but could not locate
its existance - even with show hidden folders checked.

I still fail to see how this is an activation issue, since only OGA seems to
feel it is not activated, but I will see if anyone here can solve it. Oh,
and apparently I am not alone in this as one of the posters in the original
thread got bounced on phone support between the "activation support" and the
"genuine support".

MS should know that this kind of issue with the amount of time being spent
to resolve, does not engender product loyalty.
