I have just bought an acer travelmate 5730G, with the vista OS,
I also bought kapersky internet security and microsoft office home and
student 2007. A trial version of mcafee and m/s office 2007 was preinstalled
on the laptop and they work fine and when i uninstalled mcafee and installed
kapersky that was fine also but as soon as i installed my full version of ms
office i started to encounter alot of problems. The first problem is a
dialog box appears when i access any of the office applications telling me
"version does not match" some of the other problems are some the so called
important updates fail to be installed and none of the updates fix the
issues, extemely slow performance, both mcafee and kapersky pick up threats
from ms office and the updates i download from microsoft even my microsoft
optical wireless mouse stops working with my full version of ms office wether
thats related or not i dont know but its a strange coincidence.
Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling and installing the programs in
different orders
the updates dont help the situation ive even had to reset the laptop to
factory settings to start over because the laptop becomes impossible to use
with the full version of ms office. I bought the genuine 2007 version from pc
world. Any help would be appreciated.

Reset the Laptop to factory condition
Run winupdate, - do NOT install any drivers, critical updates only! reboot

Uninstall Office Trial, together with the Activation assistant
Reboot
Check that the trial has successfuly uninstalled.
Uninstall McAfee trial

If it hasnt visit McAfee site and use their removal utility, reboot

Finally install Kaspersky

Did you uninstall the trial of Office from the computer and reboot before
installing the full version that you purchased? If not could be your issue.

Ensure win auto update is set for critical updates only,
Run winupdate manually from time to time, check what other updates are
shown, install any you think you need, but NOT driver updates

Version err msg
It would appear the trial version of Office has not been removed completely.
In Explorer Program Files is Office12 listed
or Office Small Business Tools\Buisiness Contact Manager?

windows update is set, i dont know what updates i do and dont need i presume
if microsoft say its important or recommended that i would need it for some
reason.
the trial version has been completely removed however, i read on another
thread that the version number changes because of hotfix updates and
microsoft outlook/business contact manager which came installed on my laptop,
it shows up in programs via contol panel but cannot be uninstalled and cannot
be opened either
i cant find the thread i saw with a downloadable solution

Critical updates are the ones you need
Important updates *may not* be needed, in the winupdate screen there is a
more details info link which tells you what the update is for. Do NOT
install driver updates, or if you do be prepared to get technical with
recovery proceedures.

If you are not comfortable with doing this, and assuming no data is on your
laptop, you might be better off installing to factory config, then
uninstalling all of Office & BCM, rebooting the PC, then checking they are
actually uninstalled - Check in Explorer as well as Add/Remove
