Office Home and Student 2007 Installation Issue

A

Artie

I bought a retail version of Office Home and Student 2007 - Service Desk
Edition. It is supposed to provide me 3 licenses. I have installed one set
on my Dell Laptop, and am attempting to install 1 set on my new Dell Desktop.

I launched the install process, provided the product key and walked into the
other room for a moment. When I came back the PC had been shutdown. I
thought it was odd that it hadn't rebooted.

I booted the system and looked for the Office Programs, but I didn't see
any. So, I launched again and entered the Product Key - a big check mark was
displayed and the installation seemed to go OK, until I received an error
about a pervious installation of OneNote being suspended.

I went into the control panel expecting to see the Office programs, or at
least OneNote and planned to uninstall them. None of the programs were
listed.

I then checked the application logs and found Information Alerts saying:
-Microsoft Office Shared MUI (Englist) 2007 - INstallation operation
completed successfully.
-Microsoft Office Shared Setup Metadata MUI (English) 2007 - Installation
operation completed successfully
-Microsoft Office Excel MUI (English) 2007 - Installation operation
completed successfully

But again, no programs are showing up in All Programs or in Control Program
Add/Remove Programs.

THe next entry for MSiInstaller is when I attempted to install again. It
says:
Product Microsoft Office Shared MUI (English) 2007 - Error 1704. An
installation for Microsoft Office OneNote MUI (English) is currently
suspended. You must undo the changes made by that installation. Do you wish
to undo those changes?

I'd entered "yes" when the error appeared interactively, but nothing helped.

I clicked on the link provided in the error message of the log but just get
a "We're Sorry no additional information about this issue ....."

Any ideas on what I can do?
