Retail version? That would be 3 minus the number of PC's that it is
currently installed on.

I bought a used computer and the software package came with it. The software
was not installed on the computer, so I installed it with no problem. What I
don't know is do I have any more installs left? Do I have to attempt to do
another install on my other computer to find out?

You need to look at the license terms to determine whether you can install
it on more than one system. Beyond that, there's no way to tell how many
installations are left.
