Office HSE '07 and Pro Plus '07?

hi all-

I'm considering purchasing Office Professional Plus '07 through my school,
but I'm worried about it overriding my current Home and Student Edition setup
since I really use OneNote to take notes in class. Will Pro Plus wipe out
OneNote when I install it? Or should I uninstall HSE first, install Pro Plus,
and then reinstall HSE?

I want Pro Plus '07 so I can also have OutLook, Access, and Publisher. Word, Excel, and Powerpoint only take me so far :/

Well, since there's no such thing as a "cross-grade", you will own legal
licenses to each program in each version of Office. So you can choose to
have all apps from all versions, including OneNote.

You may get into some trouble (well, not "trouble", but potential confusion)
in the future if you choose to upgrade, because you'll have (possibly) Word
from one version, Outlook from one version, Excel from another, etc. But as
long as you use the Windows Control Panel to confirm what you have
installed, retain you original installation media and product keys, you
should be okay.

According the MSoft Website, you can get OneNote as a standalone
application.

Since you already have H&S, just install Pro Plus over the top and select
Custom if you get the chance, and deselect the Office applications you
already have installed. Or install everything, then install OneNote from the
Custom selection of H&S.

The issue (and it isn't a big one) with over-installing Pro on top of H & S
is that Word, Excel and PPT will all have the For Non-commercial heading on
those programs even if they were overwritten by the Pro install. The OP
needs to uninstall H & S, install and update Pro and then install only the
OneNote from the H & S disk (if they need OneNote) to ensure that the
Non-commercial message is not there.
