Office install stops - no error number

Office 2003 pro will not install on my XP SP2 machine. The dialogue box
appears for the CD key to be entered but will not allow the keyboard to be
used. It's busy rattling the hard disk and eventually comes up with a msiexec
problem - do you want to send a report. The 'not responding' brackets appear
then the setup closes down to allow normal use. The verbose log file has
lines of 'failed to create hash for C:\ program files\office....wmf'. Does
anyone have the hash it needs!!? Help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, Alan_UK,

You might try running a scandisk and defragmentation before doing the
installation again. I don't know that it will work, but it might be worth a
shot to see if your hard drive has any bad sectors.
