Office installation lost in Vista

I had a working Office Suite on Vista Ultimate. I then used the program "add
features" to allow the running of Document Imaging in the Tools area. Now
all of the Office programs result in "has not been installed for current
user. Please run setup to install the application"

The activation wizard uses Word to reenter any product key but this is
disabled with the above message. I've uninstalled Office and reinstalled,
but the problem remains.

My problem is covered in thread "UAC in Vista has to be turned off to run MS
Office" It appears it is related to 64-bit Vista and there is no resolution
other than turning UAC off.
