Go to microsoft's site. There are some incredible resources there:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/2000/two/30ct.htm

Also www.myitforum.com is a great place to ask questions about things like
deploying office to an enterprise:

One of the options available is configuring an admin share for office.
Office needs to be installed from the admin share initially, so that may not
help you at this phase.

I would start at http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork the Office Resource
Kit. There are so many options, you should really do a lot of reading and
familiarize yourself with all the available options

resources to manually do this, but want to stream line it as much as
possible. Any suggestions?

If you install from CD, Office 2003 will automatically cache a copy of the
CD files on your local drive if there's room.

with 1200 pcs you better not have done a single one manually.........you
have better things to do as an admin.....
