Office launching inside internet explorer

Hi
I believe as default Office is launched within IE, when viewing documents
from Internet Explorer.
Does anyone have a good method to configure the system so Office apps are
launched externally from IE?
I know how to do this manually, via file association, but is there a way so
that i could automate this?

Thanks Alan.
I saw this article, but wasn't sure if i should reg hack to achieve what i
wanted.
Anyway, thats what i did.. modified the reg keys in Office 2003 Transform
file and everything is sweet.
