Office Not Responding After Sleep

H

Hammer

Vista Business 32 SP1 & Office 2000 works great from a clean boot or reboot,
but I cannot use any Office program after coming back from sleep mode. Excel,
Word, ect., they all freeze and go into NOT RESPONDING if my computer was in
sleep mode. I have even performed Office Repair Install and it still hangs
(until I reboot). I am NOT using any Add-ins or Macros, and no other program
on my system has any problem with sleep mode. Running as administrator does
not fix. Running in compatibility mode does not fix.

Please don't tell me to purchase an upgraded office version because I have
googled and found others have the same problem, even with Office '07. I would
be mighty PO'ed if I spent over $100 for the latest and greatest in an
attempt to fix just this, only to come out with the same problem. Please
don't tell me to wipe my hard drive and re-install windows, that is not a
solution I am willing to consider. And please don't tell me to install some
free .org office clone, that is not a solution to my problem.

Since you don't want a solution to your problem, specifically that you are
running a 10 year old untested and unsupported Office version on Windows
Vista, then why did you post?

I have experienced no such problems with either Office 2003 or 2007 in
either Vista or XP, nor did I experience problems with Office 2k on win2k or
winXP
Obviously I did something wrong
Your problem is more likely to be with drivers

Ladies and gentlemen, presenting the first worthless reply from a ms mvp.
Typical behavior when they are clueless on how to provide constructive
assistance... more to come, I'm sure.

I have no problems running Office 2000 on XP Pro SP3. What you do not say is
that you have successfully run Office 2000 on Vista Business 32 SP1 after
using sleep mode.

DL

No because Office2k is not fully compatible with Vista, whilst it mostly
works ok, other than outlook problems, any problems that occur are not
necessarily fixable.
Only Office 2003 and above has been confirmed by MS as fully compatible,
i.e. tested
Have you checked to see if there are any mobo update chipset drivers
available, either from your PC supplier if a Major OEM or Laptop, or mobo
manufacturer if a generic sys. Problems with power saving and similar
options are often fixed by later drivers.
(Office2k & win2k worked for me, until some business software I use
necessitated a later version, and when I purchased another desktop I thought
I may as well look at Vista - the business version)

Can you, or anyone, please provide link(s) which specify that "Office2k is
not fully compatible with Vista... Only Office 2003 and above has been
confirmed by MS as fully compatible"?

I'm puzzled that no one has asked exactly what version of Office 2000 I have
installed, or whether I've tried installing the available office updates.
Since my first post, I have in fact installed Office 2000 SP1a then SP3. I
will be testing this over the next few days and post back with status.

well, you can pay for
the support only to be
told that there isn't a
fix for your older version

or

simply use the money to
upgrade your office to a more
compatible and reliable
version for your o.s. and
stop bitching at everyone else
because you’re a cheap skate.

honestly, still using an old
10 year old program.

I bet you still wear 10 year
old underwear too.
