Office Outlook not working all of a sudden???

Tried opening my office outlook from task bar as usual - opens for a split
second AND all of a sudden closes on its own with no error messages or
anything - just closed in 2 seconds (flickers on then shuts off automatically
??) - I checked for changes saying there was modification yesterday evening
.... had computer since 2007 - not problems until now - any ideas - thank you
in advance!!!!!! HELP

I have had problems at times with Outlook.exe running more than once which
causes this same problem.

Open your task manager and see if you can tell if more than one outlook.exe
is running. If there is click on them and end process, then try to open
outlook again.

John thank you but that does not work either
I also tried Run - outlook.exe and same thing happens
It is on the screen for a second then disapears without any errors or anything

The problem I've seen is when Outlook is exited that a stub of code is left
in memory. You exit Outlook (not just minimize it to a tray icon) and still
see an instance of outlook.exe (still loaded after several minutes of
exiting Outlook, so it's not an add-on keeping Outlook running until the
add-on has completed its function, like for the Personal Folders Backup
add-on that can be copying the .pst file on exiting Outlook). This remnante
outlook.exe process can interfere with the next load of Outlook or, if it
loads, interfere with the new instance's operation. So if you have exited
Outlook but a couple minutes later still see an outlook.exe still running
then kill it.

Yet tried running Outlook in its safe mode which does not load any add-ons
("outlook.exe /safe")? When Outlook loads, it also loads any enabled
add-ons. If an add-on crashes or hangs on load, so does Outlook. When
Outlook exits, it has to first unload all the loaded add-ons. If an add-on
crashes or hangs on unload, so does Outlook.

Have you rebooted the computer yet? Some updates will pend until Windows is
exited (they are installed on exit) or complete at the start of the next
startup of Windows.
