Office packages taking very long time to open

Has anyone seen the following problem with taking a very long time to open
but when you disconnect it from the network it works fine. One thing I was
thinking of is the latest security updates possibley checking for valid
certificate ??

Andy, if you get an answer, let me know please. I posted basically the same
question and have heard nothing yet. Mine isn't related to that update in
April because mine was happening long before then. Had dialup and it
continued when I got DSL.
