Office Powerpoint 2003 PC Boot problem

D

Dave

Something (I can't find) loads PowerPoint whenever I boot my PC (running XP
Pro, SP3 - not just installed). In the past I've noticed it running when
checking things with Task Manager and frequently wondered what it was doing
there!

Over the past week or so, this load has been failing with an error pane
asking me to send a report to Microsoft and do I still want PowerPoint to
load and, if so, if in Safe Mode! If I say yes to loading PowerPoint and
either yes or no to Safe Mode then PowerPoint will load successfully - not
that I want it.

I have tried "repairing" Office, and when completed PowerPoint loads without
any trouble, but as soon as I reboot ... back to the old problem!

Any help with this problem would be appreciated, especially to finding what
is causing PowerPoint to be loaded anyway.

Many thanks.

I have, of course, looked in the Startup Folder! I have also run msconfig
and looked in the Services and Startup tabs. There is no obvious reason for
PowerPoint being loaded automatically, neither can I think of a reason why
it should be required.

Iam experiencing the same problem, but with PP, W, and XL!!! I get three of
those blasted messages!!! Like you, nothing in msconfig or startup. I have
turned off almost everything in msconfig. This is frustrating!

Why are you replying to me, I don't have the problem. Also if you aren't
going to add any information to the thread, such as "WHAT DID THE
MESSAGE SAY" that would help point to the cause of your problem, why
post? If I had to hazard a guess based on the symptoms, I'd say you have
a permissions issue and updates or installation problems. Try starting
your own thread with particulars.
