office pro upgrade and service packs

I currently have Microsoft XP with service pack 3 and Office pro 2002. I
would like to upgrade to Office pro 2007 and have read the system
requirements which state that I must have the service pack 2. My question
is: Do I need to download the service pack 2 from the microsoft site first
and then install the Office pro 2007 upgrade next or vice versa? I'm not
even sure what the service packs do but was able to at least find out what
service pack was on my computer. Any help and/or advice would be greatly
appreciated before I purchas the upgrade. Thanks.

Hi Deni,

To install Office 2007 as an upgrade, you don't need to have a previous version of office installed. All you need is the previous
version's original installation media. the Office 2007 installer will ask you to insert the qualifying media at the appropriate
time.

When they are talking about Service Pack 2, they are talking about WINDOWS SP2
NOT Office SP2.

Are you really sure you want to upgrade to Office 2007? What particular
functions you are interested in? If you have Office 2002, I am pretty sure you
have everything what you need to do your work.

You can download a 60 day version of Office 2007 for FREE and see if you like
it. The link is here:

Hope this helps.
