Hi,

I have Office Pro and ALL applications (WORD, EXC,e tc) have the following
message at the bottom left hand corner when you try to start a new doc or
modify an existing one. Not sure when it happened as I rarley use Office
applications at home, but have tried uninstall and re-install of Office and
mo joy:

This modification is not allowed beacuse the document is locked

Any one able to help?

Maybe you have a trial version of Office 2003, and the trial
period has ended. Or maybe you have not activated your Office
software.

What happens if you start Word and click on Help | Activate
Product? If you are already activated, a dialog box saying so
will appear. If you are not activated, the Activation Wizard
will start. If you have an expired trial version, a dialog box
will prompt you to enter a valid product key or convert (purchase
a key) online.

I have a full lic' version thro work. I tried the activate in Word before,
but it offers nothing. The whole Office application is like read-only.

If you're talking about a Home Use Program license, then maybe
the problem is that a HUP license can only be installed once, and
you've installed it on more than one computer. Talk to the
computer support staff at your work.

You are spot-on with it being a home use and I think you may have hit the
nail on the head. I had it on my old computer that packed up and whne I got
my new one I just installed it and it didn't rejetct it so I assumed all
well. As I don't use it at home it is probably never took when I installed
it on my new computer.

I speak with the guru's at work.

Thanks very much for the steer.
