Office programs should let me open the folder where a document is

Why can't I open the containing folder of a document from within Word, Excel
or whatever? I'll save something to some arcane network location, then I'll
have to navigate to it again if I want to keep tabs on how large it's
becoming. Just one example of why it would be nice to have "open containing
folder" available in all Office programs.

That's not answering the OP's question - he want to open the folder
containing the file he's looking at in the file open (or file save? )
dialog. Your method requires backing up a level, where mutlitple folders
may be visible (darn, which one was that in again?....)

It may not be the answer OP wants but other than using Windows Search
there is no other answer. :)

Well, there are several Desktop Search options, such as Google Desktop
Search, and MSN Desktop Search that makes it easier to find the file without
lengthy navigation. However, "Open Containing Folder" could be an option
under the File menu, and would eliminate the extra step necessary for
searching. It's just a suggestion in case those Microsoft engineers working
on new versions of Office are listening here.

Thank you for the suggestions.
